ESSO CUP UNDERWAY
Weyburn Gold Wings are off to a great start at the 2014 Esso Cup with a 4-2 victory over Edmonton Thunder and a 2-1 win over Sudbury Stars.

Jennica Whitrow and Cassidy Pirlot lead the scoring with 5 points each.

STARS NAME HEAD COACH
The Saskatoon Midget AAA Stars, of the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League, are proud to announce the appointment of Greg Slobodzian to the position of Head Coach for the 2014/15 hockey season. Greg is a well know quantity in Local and Provincial hockey circles and has established himself as one of the most enthusiastic and respected hockey skills development instructors in Saskatchewan. Greg will be relinquishing his past three years of duties as Skill Development Coach with the Male Saskatchewan Huskies Hockey Program to allow him to concentrate fully on directing the Stars Hockey P...

ROBERTS COMMITS TO RED DEER
Regina Rebels are pleased to announce that goaltender - Summer Roberts has committed to the Red Deer Queens of the Alberta College Athletic Conference (ACAC).

Summer has had a fantastic year for the Rebels in her senior year. She has lead the SFMAAAL in almost all categories finishing first overall in goals against for the season. Summer has provided strong leadership, has good size, technical skills and aggressive compete level on loose pucks. She will no doubt be a strong addition to the Queens roster this coming season.

GOLD WINGS WIN REGIONALS
Weyburn Gold Wings captured the Esso West Regional with a 3-0 win in game #3. The Gold Wings jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead and never looked back.

Cassidy Pirlot opened the scoring with a shorthanded marker. Tessa Wilson scored her first of two goals converting a 2 on 1 play. 

Wilson scored her second goal as she converted a rebound in the second period.

Weyburn outshot Pembina Valley 34-28. Jane Kish was strong in net with her biggest save in the second period turning away Lauryn Keen on a breakaway.

GOLD WINGS EVEN SERIES
Weyburn Gold Wings evened up the Esso West Regional with an impressive 4-1 victory before an announced attendance of 1,137. The Gold Wings had goals from 4 different players, Kassidy Sjostrand, Bailee Bourassa, Cassidy Pirlot and Tessa Wilson.

The teams were tied 1-1 after one period, with the Gold Wings leading 2-1 after two. The Wings outshot Pembina Valley 27-23.

Game #3 is Sunday at the Crescent Point Place at 3:pm....
